climate graph :)

heyy everyone :)
so here is my climate graph. It took me ages to do!!! Anyway, I hope I've done it all right. I know it looks a little blurry, but if you click on the image it becomes a lot bigger and clearer :)

PRE-SRP experiment info :)

heyy everyone! :)))

ok so in the past few weeks I have been doing a separate experiment to make sure that the method I will use for my actual SRP experiment (investigation of the minimisation of water evaporation from swimming pools) can be conducted fairly, is reliable, can be carried out in an appropriate amount of time and will give me valid and conclusive results.

(so, just making clear that this ISN'T my actual method, it's just a separate experiment I am doing on the side :) )

WHAT IS THIS PRE SRP EXPERIMENT:

Aim: To observe the evaporation levels of the water in the two glasses (one left inside-in sunroom, one left outside-under a lot of cover), to see whether there is sufficient evaporation so I will be able to successfully complete my actual SRP experiment.

Hypothesis: The water level in the glass placed inside (in the sunroom) will evaporate faster than the water placed in the glass outside (under a lot of cover) because it is exposed to more heat.

Equipment:

  • measuring beaker (to pour water into glasses)

  • two clear kitchen glasses

  • water

  • sticky tape

  • red marker

  • camera (to take pictures of results)

  • pen

  • notepad

Method:

1. I gathered 2 ordinary kitchen glasses.

2. I then filled each with two thirds a cup of water.

3. I then marked the water level in each of the glasses with sticky tape and coloured the tape in with red marker to mark the present water level. (I did this so I could accurately monitor the rate of evaporation so I could make observations and valid conclusions).

4.I then placed one glass inside the house (in the sunroom) and one glass outside the house (in the backyard under cover).

Results: (shown in pictures)

The glass on the left was the glass I places inside my house in the sunroom. From the picture you can tell that my hypothesis- "that the water in the glass placed inside will evaporate faster than the water in the glass placed outside" was correct. The water in this glass evaporated more as it was exposed to more heat and this is essential in fastening evaporation.

The glass on the right was the glass I placed outside in the backyard under cover. Because the water in this glass was exposed to less heat, the water was not evaporated as much compared to the water level in the glass placed inside.

NOTES:

Doing this experiment was very useful, as it provided me with some valuable information that I am glad I have realised as it will come in handy for my actual SRP experiment. I think in my actual experiment, I will place all of the glasses inside the house in the sunroom- as they will be exposed to enough heat. I think it is also better that I place them inside as opposed to outside, becuase inside the glasses won't fall or get ruined or damaged by harmful outdoor elements such as leaves, rain, wind, dirt etc- all of which will negatively affect my SRP experiment. By doing this experiment, I have also reliased that there will be sufficient evaporation in the water levels in the glasses for my actual experiment.

SRP EQUIPMENT :)

heyy everyone! :) fortunately ms zhange has approved all of my experiment ideas! yay! :) but i have decided to opt for experiment 2- "investigation of minimisation of water evaporation from swimming pools". I choose this experiment because it interests me the most, I will be able to gain a lot of background information on this topic and have an ample amount of results...i hope!

ANYWAY, today i purchased all the scientific equipment needed for this SRP experiment. I already have all the basic equipment needed, such as a ruler, glasses, camera etc. So this is the scientific equipment I got today:

  • AQUA CHECK: ph measuring strips

  • TURBO: liquid solar blanket

by the way, I already have a sample of a liquid pool cover, because I already have a pool. so yeah, i didn't buy that today beacuase I already have it.
